Can the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl?

Friday, November 30th, 2007

After watching the Dallas Cowboys take down the Green Bay Packers last night in pretty impressive fashion, it brought up a few questions. Is there anyone else in the NFC that can challenge Dallas? More importantly, can the Cowboys win the Super Bowl? The first answer is a resounding, NO. There isn’t anyone who can seriously threaten the Cowboys, especially not in Texas Stadium. Sure the Saints could score 30, but there defense would give up 45 vs. Dallas. The Seahawks are beaten up, the Giants are led by ……………well the Giants still don’t know who their leader is. No one in the NFC can match up with the Boys, punch for punch, score for score. The second question is a little more difficult to answer. My first instinct is to say no, the Pats already beat the ‘Boys in their own back yard in convincing fashion. Looking deeper at the match up, however, leads me to believe the Cowboys can defeat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Sure, they’ll be a 10 point underdog, but stranger things have happened. The Patriots are not a young team. In fact, I believe some of the 30+ vets on the team will begin to hit a wall in the final month. Does that mean they’ll lose in the playoffs? NO…Does that mean the Pats are vulnerable in the Super Bowl vs. a young and ultra talented Cowboys team? You better believe it.

Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

What a game this is going to be!! The Green Bay Packers traveling down to Dallas on a rare Thursday night game on the NFL network.  I may be in the minority, but I love midweek NFL games and I love this matchup in particular.  Don’t be surprised to see this game come down to a late field goal.  Both teams have impressive rookie kickers, and it may come down to which one can handle the pressure the best.   The Moneymaker has an official play on both the side and the total of tonights key NFC matchup.  Make sure to sign up http://www.bettingkings.com/packages/ today.

Monday Night Football Monsoon

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I noticed a couple of things while watching last night’s game. Yes, that’s right. I watched last night’s game. I truly am a sports junky. First off, the grounds crew should be fired in Pittsburgh. With a 100% chance of storms in the forecast, why would you lay down brand new sod just 24 hours prior to the game. Beyond that, why would the grounds crew not even rip up the old sod, but just lay the new sod directly on top. Sounds like someone took the easy way out. Secondly, Ricky Williams looked good for 5 minutes in the game. Tell me you didn’t see an injury coming. Ricky hasn’t had contact in over a year, hasn’t played a live game since the CFL wrapped up in 2006, and they are in Pittsburgh for Monday Night Football, in a monsoon and they were wanting to ride him to victory!?!? Either the Dolphins are wanting to be the only franchise to go both undefeated and WINLESS….or they are trying to make Ricky Williams earn some of that money that….went up in smoke!! That’s all I have for now. Check out our NFL Weekly picks page…and as always, GOOD LUCK!!

Are the New England Patriots the Best Team Ever?

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

As the NFL season begins to hit the home stretch, one thing is becoming more and more of a possibility; The New England Patriots going undefeated. Clearly, if they go undefeated throughout the regular season and playoffs, they will be undeniably the best team ever. What if they happen to rest key players the last week of the season, and fall to the Giants in the Meadowlands. Does that make them any less great? The Patriots as of right now, barring any injuries to Tom Brady or Randy Moss, are the greatest team ever to step onto a football field. Regardless if they choose to rest players in the last weekend of the season or not, this group is playing at a higher level than any other before it. The stats support this in a HUGE way. New England is the #1 scoring offense in the NFL, #1 offense in terms of yards per game in the NFL. Their defense is 4th in the NFL in total defense and 5th in the NFL in scoring defense. Oh, I almost forgot to mention their special teams. Their kicker has a 92% field goal percentage while their punter has only had to punt 21 times which isn’t even enough to qualify him amongst the league leaders. NFL historians can talk about Bradshaw’s Steelers, Ditka’s Bears, or the Cowboys of the 90’s. I’ll take this year’s New England Patriots team and give any of those teams 10 points on a neutral field. Take advantage of our NFL Weekly Picks while you can.

Will the upsets ever end??

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Another week of college football has begun and already the #2 Oregon  Ducks have fallen.   How many upsets can there be in one season?  There have already been more top 5 ranked teams lose this season to unranked opponents than ever before, and most teams still have 3 games left!!   Let’s take a look at this Oregon Ducks team who many thought, including myself, were playing the best football in the country.   Their offense with Dixon in the game was unstoppable.  As good as their offense was, their defense was equally as bad (especially in the first half).  As soon as Dixon hobbled off the field, you just got the sense that Oregon’s national title hopes hobbled off the field with him.  Which leads to my most important point.  If you are at a big time program, which Oregon definitely is (don’t believe me? check out their facilities) you have to have more than one QB on your roster.  I don’t want to hear from people that Leaf wasn’t recruited to play in the “option read” offense and let Oregon off the hook that easily.  The entire game he was throwing behind guys so badly, they could barely touch the ball.  However, this loss isn’t on the shoulders of Leaf..it rests solely on the coaches of Oregon. If they are national title ready, they should have at least “2 deep” depth at every position, and have their backups ready to play.  With that said, what a win for Mike Stoops. In a small way, getting revenge for his brother after that horiffic instant replay loss Oklahoma had in Eugene last season.    I can’t wait to see what Saturday will unveil…..
